Thoughts of You!!

Today, I am sharing this card I made... "Thoughts of You"!
I thought it would be a great way to display caring thoughts in beautiful
teal blue, green, and yellow!!

I layered the card first by cutting the French Flair Classic Scalloped die in
white cardstock.  Then, I followed by using the French Flair Classic dies
in teal blue and green print papers.

I wanted that lovely Kiwi Spirt Doily to accent the layered sentiment, so
I cut it out using thick white cardstock.  By using this thicker cardstock,
it super-defines the intricate details
of this beautiful doily even more, and adds great depth!!

Then, I stamped the sentiment onto the Oval Classic SM Silver Stacker
using white cardstock, and layered it onto the Sentiment Tag #1 in green.
Lastly, layered that piece onto the teal blue Sentiment Tag #2,
and added two shiny pearls!

I ink distressed the flowers and leaves using the Squeezed Lemonade, Scattered Straw, and
Peeled Paint to make four full bloom Tea Rose medium flowers.
I also made two closed Tea Rose Medium flowers and placed all the blooms
to the top and bottom corners of the card.

My 1st She Art - She Listened to Her Heart!

I'm excited to share my first She Art Canvas project that I made!! First of all,  I have to admit that I am a little intimidated to share my artwork!  Typically, when I draw, paint, or doodle it's straight into my art journal,  then it stays tucked away just for my eyes to view!  So...aaah..here it goes...

This is my first attempt at canvas painting a She Art girl!  I was gonna wait for my Faber Castell Gelatos to arrive, as well as some cool rub-ons and other mixed media supplies I ordered, but I just couldn't wait any longer!  Anyway, I  know that I will be making more canvas artwork, so there will be plenty of time to play when the new stuff arrives!!

I had no idea where I was going with this project, as I had been delaying creating due to all the ideas floating around in my head and into my notebook.  I think I've mentioned before, that I tend to procrastinate sometimes with creating.   Well that made me delay creating, and I just thought... know what?  I just need to dive in and create NOW!!  So,  I finally let all of that go, for the time being, and let some stamps inspire me for this first 6x12 canvas.  Can you believe that most of what you see on my project are older Fancy Pants 12x12 acrylic stamp sheet sets that have been waiting for me to ink up..literally for years! Okay, so I think the only newer stamp you see is the big roman numeral clock one on the top left corner!

Gave my She Art girlie some flowing hair.  I added some doodling onto her outfit and headband, and cut out a heart and added to top of her dress!  The little tiny flowers you see have been painted with my new Faber Castell Big Brush Pens and Faber Castell PITT Artist Pens!!  I even added a little lace daisy onto her headband, and then paper pieced the phrase "She listened to her heart above all other voices"

I truly enjoyed the process of painting and using different art mediums on my canvas piece!
If you are interested, this is the on-line class that I took with Christy Tomlinson.  Just click on the icon below and you can go and check out all the details!  I tell you, it will be fun, and I think you too will enjoy the process if you like to create with mixed media.  It's 3 weeks of videos and 3 months to view them over and over and over again. So, there's plenty of time to create in between!!

That wraps it up for me today! Thanks for stopping by and peeking at my first She Art girlie.

Unity Challenge - Tooty Fruity!

How about joining us for the next Unity Challenge?  It's all about fruit, and all you need to do is create a project using Unity "fruit" stamps.  We are right into the strawberry season right now, so I just had to feature sweet strawberries!!

The papers I used from the "Nook and Pantry" collection by Basic Grey!  And, that big ol' strawberry is from the April 2010 Unity KOTM "Together We Bloom"!  We're just a couple of weeks away from Memorial Day weekend, so I am gonna have to hit one of those strawberry stands and make a deliciously sweet strawberry pie...yum!

H{ippity} Hoppin'

Hello there and hope you had a great weekend! Time for a new {ippity} challenge, and we've got a fun sketch to try this week!  I think you are gonna love it lots!

My card features the {ippity} "A Moment in Time" stamp set!  Using one of my  Spellbinder dies, Basic Grey "Hello Luscious" designer papers, and Sour Apple ink pad that I picked up from this weekend's Scrap Expo sure makes me smile!

I changed the sketch just a tad to make the card more wide than tall, and I was pleased with the end result! If you are interested in playing along this week or anytime throughout the month of March,  come join in on the fun for a new GRAND PRIZE!!  Here are the deets and a photo of this week's SKETCH in case you'd like to give it a try!

Friends with Flair Time!

Happy Friday!!  That means another Unity "Friends with Flair"!!

Today, I am featuring ...

I've been wanting to use this stamp for quite some time, and found the new Basic Grey "Curio" designer papers to inspire me to paper-piece this lovely tea cup!!  What I love is that this stamp can be colored in with my Copics, or paper pieced!  I put a little vintage spin on my card today, but I can see using this stamp in other ways too!!

I could use a cup of tea just about now, with a scone and Devonshire cream! Oh my!!
Well the week is coming to a close...and, I am excited to have the weekend begin!  How about you?

Unity Hop Time!

If you are like me, sometimes I need to have that quick gift ready to go and rather quickly!  Today's Unity project theme is just in time for me to get movin'...

It's crunch time...quick Christmas presents!!

So, here's a quick one to make!  I just downloaded a couple of Silhouette cutting files, stamped my {ippity} holly/berries & sentiment, and tied a brown bow using Baker's twine and I am done!  All I need to do is insert the gift card of my choice.  And..isn't this Basic Grey "Jovial" snowman papers sweet!  One gift down..so many more to go! Hee he he!!  I think I need to make some more of these to have them ready and on-hand!!

What I love about the Silhouette is how you can size up or down your files.  See that little tag designed by Samantha Walker....I  just downsized it to where I knew my sweet little {ippity} sentiment would fit!  Just love that feature and love to manipulate these files!

Details - "Christmas Gift Card Holder"
Supplies - Stamps: {ippity} by Unity ("Season of Joy" & "How YOU Doin?"); Designer Paper: Basic Grey (Jovial Collection); Baker's Twine: Martha Stewart (Brown); Markers: Copics; Die Cutting Files: Silhouette (Gift Card Holder C00783_20509) & Tag Nesting Set 5 designed by Samantha Walker (C00425_19210);

I made this Heart Notecard using various Spellbinders, a wide Martha Stewart Punch, and the ivory colored Silhouette die along with Basic Grey papers!  The heart's been popped up with 3D Zapdots and I added the beautiful orange Prima flower to the center!

Unity Hip Hop!!

It's Unity Hip Hop Day!!!  Can you believe that Christmas is right around the corner..yikes!  So, to get you in the mood, Unity and ippity designers are sharing "Christmas Cards" today!

My card features a mix of old and new ippity stamps: Season of Joy (label & sentiment) & Sing a New Song (the background wildflower)!!  The papers are by Basic Grey's "Jovial" collection! Love all the papers in this collection!  I just love poinsettia's, so I used a little poinsettia flower to top off my card!

The NEW ippity wildflower stamp (I'm calling it..smile), has been Versamarked so as to lightly appear through the ink distressing I added to that gorgeous ippity label!!  The beautiful doily in the back is a Silhouette die!

Next designer up to share a FABULOUS creation  for you is  LISA ARANA!!  Enjoy the rest of the hop!!

La-La Land's Got a NEW Release...Come & See!!

It's a NEW RELEASE day at La-La Land Crafts Blog!!  We are introducing THREE NEW stamps and ONE digi sentiment that are now available: Winter Marci, Luka with Truck, Football Luka, and a digi sentiment set (available at $4.25/per digi set) can be purchased toda right here at the La-La Land Store!!

Today, I am showcasing lovely little Winter Marci!  I immediately fell in love with this little one and I knew right off that I had to color her in warm golden caramel colors.  You see my mother owned a winter coat just like this one and in this same color.  It brought me back to my childhood days remembering how much Mom just loved that coat!  So, as a tribute to my Mom, here's sweet Winter Marci wishing you all the "Warmest Winter Wishes"!!

The designer papers I used are by Basic Grey's Wisteria collection! Winter Marci has been placed right on top of my beautiful shaped Silhouette die "Artisans Nesting Rectangular (C00685_19210)" by Samantha Walker!  Then, I tucked three Silhouette "Snowflakes (C0301)" dies by Samantha Walker to go with my winter theme!  I just love that you can size & cut these snowflakes in different sizes!!  They'd be so sweet in  larger sizes too!!

Click on the photo, and you can see the buttons on her coat are tiny shiny gold adhesive pearls!!  The itty bitty stars that come right out of the snowflakes were layered on the ride side of the sentiment that has been popped up with Helmar 3D Zapdots, as well as the long rectange paper!
